Hello!

Today in math we worked adding in columns. We working on questions 1 to 23. Nearly all students were able to complete this assignment in class. Students should complete this assignment at home tonight should they have any outstanding questions.
Tomorrow is day 3. On day 3 we exchange our books at the library. Please ensure that your child has their library books at school tomorrow so that they can either renew or exchange them.
In class students have individually read for 15 minutes. This time could be applied to their reading logs to convince kids that they are daily competent readers!

Hello!
I hope students are rolling back their reading logs.
I have printed one for myself to see what numbers I can come up with. I have to admit that it is hard to count all those minutes! Some are here and some are there. You read without realizing it. Almost all my time online could be applied to my reading log.
It is foundational that we continue to grow as healthy readers. One of our school goals regards literacy. I am really enjoying applying some of the great ideas I have found in The 7 Keys to Comprehension. I am reading this book with my local book club. A big thanks to my Vice-Principle for the recommendation.
My suggestion in regards to monitoring reading minutes, estimate with your child and explain why how you came to your answer. When working in math, I find that some students find estimating and explaining their reasoning very difficult. Estimating is a great skill that is applied constantly throughout the day. It deserves being mentored with your child so that they can continue to develop this skill.
