Art gallery field trip

December 13th, 2007

Here are a few pictures from our trip to the art gallery. I was unable to photograph the students in the gallery where the exhibits were displayed. We split the group in two to facilitate the viewing. This is the reason I was unable to photograph the other half of our students.

Please take a moment to listen to our first podcasts. They can be found here, on the left hand side, vertical bar. The students who participated in the field trip discussed their experiences. Students who were not present discussed an alternate subject. This first podcast is intended to allow students to become familiar with Garageband (audio recording software) prior to making their Social Studies podcast.

I had intended to send the permission form home today however we ran out of time at the end of the day. You will be receiving a permission form for our field trip to the Mackenzie Art Gallery, Dec 10th, 2007. This opening suddenly was available to our class when another classroom canceled their trip. We are going to be away from the school during the morning and returning to school for lunch. The afternoon classes will follow our regular schedule. Please ensure that forms are returned for Monday otherwise students will remain at school during this field trip. The current exhibit is Saskatchewan artist, Joe Fafard. Here is a website that highlights some of his art.

Agribition

November 12th, 2007

Hello!

Our first field trip is rapidly approaching. I am in need of parent volunteers at Agribition for two reasons: 1) Agribition is a busy place and I want to ensure the safety of all our students, 2) There is alot of information available to students and without adequate support from a mature guide, students often passover this information. Should you be interested in supporting our classroom during this field trip, please email me. Should this not be possible, call the school and leave a message. Our registration form indicates that we can have up to 5 parent guides which gives us an ideal adult student ration of 1 - 5. There is also a Teacher and Helpers Workshop Sunday for those parent guides who are interested at 10:30am.

Here is a brief summary of our 2007 Agribition field trip special presentations on Tuesday, November 20th, 2007.

At 10:00 am, our class has won a lottery draw to attend ”The Sustainability Show”. Our class has also been selected to attend ”Earth Songs” at 1:45. The time that our class is not in workshops will be used to explore the exhibits at Agribition.

Our class will be away from school that day. Please ensure that your students has a cold lunch that can be eaten at Agribition.

Thank you!
